Why I Believe in Meditation & Self-Reflection to Overcome Trauma and Mental Health Challenges

Founder of NOËL Living | A guide to healing, mindfulness, and coming home to yourself

Before NOËL Living ever existed—before the rituals, the formulations, the intention behind every product—there was my own healing journey.

I’ve lived through anxiety that felt overwhelming and constant. I’ve struggled with control, perfectionism, and the quiet intensity of an eating disorder. I’ve experienced deep loss at a young age with the passing of my mom—something that shaped me in ways I didn’t fully understand until much later.

For a long time, I coped by pushing forward. By staying busy. By trying to appear strong.

But healing didn’t begin until I allowed myself to slow down—and turn inward.

That’s where meditation and self-reflection changed everything.

Meditation Gave Me Space to Finally Breathe

When I first started meditating, it didn’t feel calming—it felt uncomfortable.

Sitting in stillness meant facing thoughts and emotions I had spent years avoiding. But over time, something shifted.

I stopped fearing my inner world.

I began to observe instead of react.

To breathe instead of spiral.

To allow instead of control.

Meditation created space between me and my anxiety—and in that space, I found clarity.

Not perfection. Not instant peace. But awareness.

And awareness is where healing begins.

Self-Reflection Helped Me Understand, Not Judge

Meditation quieted the noise—but self-reflection gave it meaning.

I began asking myself:

  • Where is this coming from?

  • What am I trying to control—and why?

  • What does this version of me actually need?

Instead of criticizing myself, I started understanding myself.

My anxiety had roots.

My behaviors had purpose.

My pain had a history.

And when you understand yourself, you stop fighting yourself.

That’s when true transformation begins.

From Control to Connection

As a former fitness competitor, I was conditioned to rely on discipline, structure, and control.

But healing asked something different of me.

It asked for softness.

For presence.

For compassion.

Through meditation and self-reflection, I rebuilt my relationship with myself—not based on achievement, but on awareness.

I learned how to:

  • Sit with discomfort without escaping it

  • Respond thoughtfully instead of reacting emotionally

  • Replace self-criticism with self-respect

  • Create daily moments of stillness in a fast-paced world

This became my foundation.

The Foundation Behind NOËL Living

Every product within NOËL Living is created from this place of experience and intention.

These are not random additions to a routine—they are tools designed to support:

  • emotional balance

  • daily grounding

  • self-connection

  • intentional living

Because what you use daily matters.

Rituals matter.

Consistency matters.

How you care for yourself—physically and mentally—matters.

This is where healing becomes tangible.

Healing Isn’t Linear—But It Is Available to You

I still have moments. I still have hard days.

But I don’t abandon myself anymore.

I come back to my breath.

I come back to stillness.

I come back to the practices that changed my life.

That’s the difference.
